Final Lettters frormer G.C President in 1976

T his will be the last time that in my present role I shall
stand before the world leaders of my church, your church,
our church, and I have a few words to leave with you.
I take my thoughts from something that Elder and Mrs.
Ralph Neall have written describing how typically a sect
evolves into a church.

They say a sect is often begun by a
charismatic leader with tremendous drive and commitment
and that it arises as a protest against worldliness and
formalism in a church. It is generally embraced by the poor.
The rich would lose too much by joining it, since it is unpopular,
despised, and persecuted by society in general. It has definite
beliefs firmly held by zealous members. Each member makes a
personal decision to join it and knows what he believes. There
is little organization or property, and there are few buildings.
The group has strict standards and controls on behavior.
Preachers, often without education, arise by inner compulsion.
There is little concern about public relations.
And then it passes on to the second generation. With
growth there comes a need for organization and buildings. As a
result of industry and frugality, members become prosperous.
As prosperity increases, persecution begins to wane.

First generation of children born into the movement do not have to make personal
decisions to join it. They do not necessarily know what they
believe. They do not need to hammer out their own positions.
These have been worked out for them. Preachers arise more
by selection and by apprenticeship to older workers than by
direct inner compulsion.

In the third generation, organization develops and
institutions are established. The need is seen for schools to pass
on the faith of the fathers. Colleges are established. Members
have to be exhorted to live up to the standards, while at the
same time the standards of membership are being lowered.
The group becomes lax about disfellowshiping non-practicing
members. Missionary zeal cools off. There is more concern over
public relations. Leaders study methods of propagating their
faith, sometimes employing extrinsic rewards as motivation
for service by the members. Youth question why they are
different from others, and intermarry with those not of their
faith.

In the fourth generation there is much machinery; the
number of administrators increases while the number of
workers at the grass-roots level becomes proportionately less.

Great church councils are held to define doctrine. More schools,
universities, and seminaries are established. These go to the
world for accreditation and tend to become secularized. There
is a reexamination of positions and modernizing of methods.
Attention is given to contemporary culture, with an interest in
the arts: music, architecture, literature. The movement seeks
to become “relevant” to contemporary society by becoming
involved with popular causes. Services become formal. The
group enjoys complete acceptance by the world. The sect has
become a church!

Brethren and sisters, this must never happen to the
Seventh-day Adventist Church! This will not happen to the
Seventh-day Adventist Church. This is not just another
church—it is God’s church! You are the men and women
sitting in this sanctuary this morning on whom God is
counting to assure that it does not happen.
Study, know what is ahead, then with God’s
help prepare your people to meet it!

Already, brethren and sisters, there are subtle forces
that are beginning to stir. Regrettably there are those in the
church who
  • Belittle the inspiration of the total Bible,
  • who scorn the first 11 chapters of Genesis,
  • who question the Spiritof Prophecy’s short chronology of the age of the earth,
  • and who subtly and not so subtly attack the Spirit of Prophecy.
  • There are some who point to the reformers and contemporary
  • theologians as a source and the norm for Seventh-day
  • Adventist doctrine.
  • There are those who allegedly are tired of the hackneyed phrases of Adventism.
  • There are those who wish to forget the standards of the church we love.
  • There are those who covet and would court the favor of the evangelicals;
  • those who would throw off the mantle of a peculiar people;
  • and those who would go the way of the secular, materialistic
  • world.

Fellow leaders, beloved brethren and sisters—don’t let
it happen! I appeal to you as earnestly as I know how this
morning—don’t let it happen! I appeal to Andrews University,
to the Seminary, to Loma Linda University—don’t let it
happen! We are not Seventh-day Anglicans, not Seventh-day
Lutherans—we are Seventh-day Adventists! This is God’s last
church with God’s last message! You are the men and women,
the leaders, whom God is counting on to keep the Seventh-day
Adventist Church God’s remnant church, the church God has
destined to triumph!
The servant of the Lord says, “Fearful perils are before
those who bear responsibilities in the Lord’s work—perils the
thought of which makes me tremble.” —Selected Messages,
vol. 2, p. 391. And in Ezekiel 22:30 we read, ”I looked for a man
among them who could build up a barricade, who could stand
before me in the breach to defend the land from ruin” (N.E.B.).

144,000, Prophecy and the triumphant living, little book. Gods people need to read this.

This is a copy of my email response to a friend ..Hope she doesn't mind me sharing this but when i thought about what i have written. I think this must be shared..
Here it is below..

The church, God's Remnant boast to have 15 million baptise members..let me verify this number.yep 15,660,347 to be exact from the GC site..
Now out of this number i am sure that many are nominal Christians .. just going through the motions.. The Sunday law and persecution will purge the church. but am sure that there are more than 144,000 faithful souls .. maybe not.... But Daniel 11 gives us some clues.. it says verse 44

"But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many".

Now when God's people based on.
  1. Those who are warning others now
  2. who are living the triumphant life now..
  3. Who experience the sprinkling of the Holy spirit now (this sprinkling time may not be long again.
  4. Those who are in the God's Word regular.
When these souls see plainly as we see the end plainly coming to being .. when evidence including the Sunday law comes into being ..These are those who the latter rain power will be poured out upon without measure .. (you cannot experience latter rain if you didn't experience sprinkling and my friends the Holy spirit is sprinkling at this time ).
These are those..who will receive the latter rain without measure. They will go forth and proclaim the 1st,2nd,3rd angel's message. Now when these people start doing that, persecution will start On God's people.. ..I believe and the Bible shows us that only 144,000 will actually see God coming in glory.LITERALLY.
The Bible suggest that the 144,000 would be distinct from the great multitude, This great multitude will include those who are martyred in History past and those who from the many in Gods church will be killed. Including beheaded Rev 20: 4-5

It will be a blood bath... Now every day i come across characteristics of the 144,000 in Gods word beside those mentioned in Rev 14:1-5 and Rev 7 ..We see them in Zeph 3:14, Malachi 3 :16-18 .. i spot them all over the place.. So I am learning about the 144,000 every day ..God is revealing to us these truths.. Now Ellen White says all of the Bible points to and end in Revelation.

My sister I Hope i was clear.. .This is much info.. I want to give you all ,but i hope you can digest this.. The church is at a pivotal moment in History and multitudes have no understanding of it . Sister white says this.in The Great Controversy (1888), page 594, paragraph 1

Do you have a break down of one of the Daniel 11:40-45 send me your email i will send you the break down .....these are passages just before Daniel 12:1 and you know what that says..

Therefore this is the verses that is most important to the church at this time. (Read Test to the church Vol 9 starting from page 11 she says at the end of some sequence of events that our heads should be in Daniel 11:40-45)..

Revelation 10 speaks of another angle coming down..notice what this angel is clothed in .. Its Jesus Himself.. according to verse 1. verse 2 And he had in his hand a little book.
what is that little book?. It is Daniel 11:40-45. verse 4 says it is sealed but ..This book will be unsealed..according to verse 9 ..the eating of the book signifies study and understanding the interpretation of the prophecy. Remember William miller and the pioneers ate parts of Daniel this very book and they understood the 2300 days (Wrong event but correct time prophecy). They ate the book then and it was bitter in the mouth and sweet in the belly .The glorious appearing of the Lord would be sweet if he did come. at least not in the way they expected it. So it was a bitter experience for them also.

Back to Rev 10 look at verse 10 it says :
10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

now when Gods Remnant people understand ,when they eat the little book when they comprehend fully Daniel 11:40-45 they will be be excited to see the very things come to past.. but it will be bitter also .for in verse 44 they know that when they preach with latter rain power they will bring on persecution. Such is the nature of the Beast.. Tidings will trouble him the verse says.. So in conclusion and i could say more. I believe that many would proclaim the message but those who will be sealed will survive to see Christ return. God has placed a limiting number of those who would see death, that number is 144,000 ..Note that these will be special also because
1. They would see Christ coming in the clouds.
2.These are unique because they endure the time of trouble such as never was.
3 They will survive a period without an intercessor.
4.They will actually feel just like Jacob .. that's why its called a time of Jacobs trouble.
5. They are the only one Rightouse alive found on the earth.. Daniel 12:10 says and many will be made white,purified.. those that remain will be maed pure by the crucible of the tremendous time of trouble.

Now Others will be preaching just before the time of trouble .Note the blood of saints were like seeds in old times when they were killed more people came to Christ.. But God has said . I allow the devil to kill, to take all but 144,000.

Let me submit .. I would never and no man might ever understand all of whom to comprise the 144,000 sister white says that..
she also says that we should strive to be among the 144,000.

Am striving My sister i hope you make it too..

Many in Remnant church will reject the message.

sister white statements:

Early Writings (1882), page 246, paragraph 1

I was shown the interest which all heaven had taken in the work going on upon the earth. Jesus commissioned a mighty angel to descend and warn the inhabitants of the earth to prepare for His second appearing. As the angel left the presence of Jesus in heaven, an exceedingly bright and glorious light went before him. I was told that his mission was to lighten the earth with his glory and warn man of the coming wrath of God. Multitudes received the light. Some of these seemed to be very solemn, while others were joyful and enraptured. All who received the light turned their faces toward heaven and glorified God. Though it was shed upon all, some merely came under its influence, but did not heartily receive it. Many were filled with great wrath. Ministers and people united with the vile and stoutly resisted the light shed by the mighty angel. But all who received it withdrew from the world and were closely united with one another. Satan and his angels were busily engaged in seeking to attract the minds of as many as possible from the light. The company who rejected it were left in darkness. I saw the angel of God watching with the deepest interest His professed people, to record the character which they developed as the message of heavenly origin was presented to them. And as very many who professed love for Jesus turned from the heavenly message with scorn, derision, and hatred, an angel with a parchment in his hand made the shameful record. All heaven was filled with indignation that Jesus should be thus slighted by His professed followers.I saw the disappointment of the trusting ones, as they did not see their Lord at the expected time. It had been God's purpose to conceal the future and to bring His people to a point of decision. Without the preaching of definite time for the coming of Christ, the work designed of God would not have been accomplished. Satan was leading very many to look far in the future for the great events connected with the judgment and the end of probation. It was necessary that the people be brought to seek earnestly for a present preparation.

Time of Trouble

Job 38:23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

Psalms 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

Psalms 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

Psalms 41:1 (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

Isaiah 33:2 O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

Jeremiah 14:8 O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

The following are all 53 quotes in the Spirit of Prophecy (Ellen White's writings) up to 1881 (without duplicates) for "time of trouble".

Day-Star - Letter from Sister Harmon 1846/02/15: And I saw the time of trouble, such as never was,--Jesus told me it was the time of Jacob's trouble, and that we should be delivered out of it by the voice of God.

Broadside #3 1847/04/07: And at the commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as we went forth, and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully.

Same: In the time of trouble, we all fled from the cities and villages, but were pursued by the wicked, who entered the houses of the saints with the sword.

A Word to the Little Flock (1847): You also think, that Michael stood up, and the time of trouble commenced, in the spring of 1844.

Broadside #2 1849/01/31: I saw that Michael had not stood up, and that the time of trouble, such as never was, had not yet commenced.

Same: Then in the time of trouble I heard them cry to God in agony--"Why didst thou not show us our wrong, that we might have got right and been ready for this time?"

Same: For two years past, the Lord has shown me in vision, repeatedly, that it is contrary to the Bible to make any provision for our temporal wants in the time of trouble.

Same: I saw that if the saints have food laid up by them, or in the fields, in the time of trouble when sword, famine, and pestilence are in the land, it will be taken from them by violent hands and strangers would reap their fields.

Same: The Lord has shown me that some of his children would fear when they see the price of food rising, and they would buy food and lay it by for the time of trouble.

Same: About one week since, the Lord showed me in vision, that houses and lands would be of no use in the time of trouble, and in that time they could not be disposed of.

Same: I saw it was the will of God that the saints should cut loose from every encumbrance--dispose of their houses and lands before the time of trouble comes, and make a covenant with God by sacrifice.

Same: Then they will be free in the time of trouble, and have no clogs to weigh them down.

Same: I saw if they held on to their property, and did not inquire duty of the Lord, he would not make duty known, and they would be permitted to keep their property, and then in the time of trouble their property would come up before them like a mountain to crush them.

Same: Now is the time to lay up treasure in heaven, and to set our hearts in order, ready for the time of trouble.

The Present Truth 1849/08/01: I saw a covering that God was drawing over his people, to protect them in the time of trouble; and every soul that was decided on the truth, and was pure in heart, was to be covered with the covering of Almighty God.

A Sketch of the Christian Experience and Views of Ellen G. White (1851): But the Lord shewed me that they would all pass by, for the time of trouble must come before the coming of Christ, and that every time that was set, and passed by, would only weaken the faith of God's people.

Same: - Subtitle heading - Duty in View of the Time of Trouble.

Same: I saw that houses and lands would be of no use to the saints in the time of trouble, for they would then have to flee from their possessions, before infuriated mobs, and at that time they could not be disposed of to advance the cause of present truth.

Same: I was shown that it was the will of God that the saints should cut loose from every encumbrance before the time of trouble comes, and make a covenant with God by sacrifice.

Same: I saw if any held on to their property, and did not inquire duty of the Lord, he would not make duty known, and they would be permitted to keep their property, and then in the time of trouble it would come up before them like a mountain to crush them, and they would try to dispose of it, but would not be able.

Same: That they would have trials to pass through that would be keen and cutting, in order that they may be purified, and fitted through suffering to receive the seal of the living God, pass through the time of trouble, and see the King in his beauty, and dwell in the presence of God, and in the society of pure and holy angels.

Same: I also saw that many did not realize what they must be in order to live in the sight of the Lord, without a High Priest in the Sanctuary, through the time of trouble.

Same: Those who receive the seal of the living God, and are protected in the time of trouble, must reflect the image of Jesus fully.

Same: O, how many I saw in the time of trouble without a shelter!

Second Review and Advent Herald 1854/09/19: He cannot love unruly children who manifest passion, and he cannot save them in the time of trouble.

Same 1862/05/27: It is the latter rain which revives and strengthens them to pass through the time of trouble.

Same: I saw that God would in a wonderful manner preserve his people through the time of trouble.

Same 1866/02/20: We dropped upon our knees and cried to God who had ever been to us a present help in time of trouble.

Same 1876/04/27: She has had severe conflicts and passed through many trying scenes; but the Lord has sustained her, and been to her a very present help in time of trouble.

Same 1876/09/21: Instead of becoming weak and irresolute, the people of God should be gathering strength and courage for the time of trouble.

Same 1880/03/11: Terrible scenes are just before them,--a time of trouble which will test the value of character.

Same 1881/11/01: Yet how could these afflicted ones, who have lost their staff and counselor, and who must now lean more entirely upon God--how could they more surely brace their souls for danger and conflict than by calling to mind what their Heavenly Father has done for them, how he has proved himself a present help in time of trouble?

Testimony for the Church, Number 1 (185_?): They must have a deep and living experience; this alone will save them in the time of trouble.

My Christian Experience, Views and Labors In Connection with the Rise and Progress of the Third Angel's Message (SG.2) (1860): This was the first time I had a view of the voice of God in connection with the time of trouble.

Same: I speak plainly: I do not think this will discourage a true Christian; and I do not want any of you to come up to the time of trouble without a well grounded hope in your Redeemer.

Same: While looking in the Bible for a verse for Willie to commit to memory to repeat in the Sabbath School, these words arrested my attention, "The Lord is good. A strong hold in the time of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him."

Same: The Lord was to him a stronghold in time of trouble.

Important Facts of Faith, In Connection with the History of Holy Men of Old (SG.3) (1864): So also will the righteous, in their time of trouble and anguish, wrestle in prayer with God, as Jacob wrestled with the angel.

Same: Those professed believers who come up to the time of trouble unprepared, will, in their despair, confess their sins before all in words of burning anguish, while the wicked exult over their distress.

Same: When Christ stands up, and leaves the most holy place, then the time of trouble commences, and the case of every soul is decided, and there will be no atoning blood to cleanse from sin and pollution.

Same: Those who have delayed a preparation for the day of God cannot obtain it in the time of trouble, or at any future period.

Same: That faith which will live through the time of trouble must be in daily exercise now.

Same: In the time of trouble, just previous to the coming of Christ, the lives of the righteous will be preserved through the ministration of holy angels.

Same: Bread and water is all that is promised to the remnant in the time of trouble.

Important Facts of Faith: Laws of Health and Testimonies (#1-10) (SG.4) (1864): As the Lord bade faithful Noah before the flood, Come thou, and all thy house, into the ark, he will, previous to the time of trouble, say to his faithful saints, who have been preparing for translation, "Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee.

Testimony for the Church, Number 5 (186_?): Thus the work will go on until the third message has done its work, and at the loud cry of the third angel, these agents will have an opportunity to receive the truth, and some of them will be converted, and endure with the saints through the time of trouble.

Testimony for the Church, Number 12 (1867): All with this hope will purify themselves even as he is pure, and will not have the restless longings, the repinings, the discontent, the lack of love, the continual looking for evil and brooding over borrowed trouble, having a time of trouble beforehand, with anxiety stamped upon every feature with no consolation but a continual, fearful looking for of some dreadful evil.

Testimony for the Church Number 13 (1867): God will be to thee a present help in time of trouble."

Testimony for the Church Number 14 (1868?): But you make for yourself a time of trouble beforehand.

Testimony for the Church Number 16 (1875?): Christ will prove a never-failing source of strength, a present help in every time of trouble.

Testimony for the Church Number 26 (1876?): If we cannot bear these trials, what will we do in the time of trouble!

Signs of the Times 1879/11/27: Jacob's night of wrestling and anguish represents the time of trouble through which the people of God must pass just prior to the second coming of Christ.

Same: That faith which will live through the time of trouble must be developed now.
