The Comfort of waiting breaths complacency and a love for the World

This chapter is based on Matthew 25:1-13. Christ with His disciples is seated upon the Mount of Olives. The sun has set behind the mountains, and the heavens are curtained with the shades of evening. In full view is a dwelling house lighted up brilliantly as if for some festive scene. The light streams from the openings, and an expectant company wait around, indicating that a marriage procession is soon to appear. In many parts of the East, wedding festivities are held in the evening. The bridegroom goes forth to meet his bride and bring her to his home. By torchlight the bridal party proceed from her father’s house to his own, where a feast is provided for the invited guests. In the scene upon which Christ looks, a company are awaiting the appearance of the bridal party, intending to join the procession. – {COL 405.1} Lingering near the bride’s house are ten young women robed in white. Each carries a lighted lamp and a small flagon for oil. All are anxiously watching for the appearance of the bridegroom. But there is a delay. Hour after hour passes; the watchers become weary and fall asleep. At midnightthe cry is heard, “Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.” The sleepers, suddenly awaking, spring to their feet. They see the procession moving on, bright with torches and glad with music. They hear the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. The ten maidens seize their lamps and begin to trim them, in haste to go forth. But five have neglected to fill their flasks with oil. They did not anticipate so long a delay, and they have not prepared for the emergency. In distress they appeal to their wiser companions saying, “Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out.” (Margin.) But the waiting five, with their freshly trimmed lamps, have emptied their flagons. They have no oil to spare, and they answer, “Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.” – {COL 405.2} While they went to buy, the procession moved on, and left them behind. The five with lighted lamps joined the throng and entered the house with the bridal train, and the door was shut. When the foolish virgins reached the banqueting hall, they received an unexpected denial. The master of the feast declared, “I know you not.” They were left standing without, in the empty street, in the blackness of the night. – {COL 406.1} As Christ sat looking upon the party that waited for the bridegroom, He told His disciples the story of the ten virgins, by their experience illustrating the experience of the church that shall live just before His second coming. – {COL 406.2} The two classes of watchers represent the two classes who profess to be waiting for their Lord. They are called virgins because they profess a pure faith. By the lamps is represented the word of God. The psalmist says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto may path.” Psalm 119:105. The oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Thus the Spirit is represented in the prophecy of Zechariah. “The angel that talked with me came again,” he says, “and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep, and said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof; and two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof. So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord? ... Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.... And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? ... Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.” Zechariah 4:1-14. – {COL 406.3} From the two olive trees the golden oil was emptied through the golden pipes into the bowl of the candlestick, and thence into the golden lamps that gave light to the sanctuary. So from the holy ones that stand in God’s presence His Spirit is imparted to the human instrumentalities who are consecrated to His service. The mission of the two anointed ones is to communicate to God’s people that heavenly grace which alone can make His word a lamp to the feet and a light to the path. “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6. – {COL 408.1} In the parable, all the ten virgins went out to meet the bridegroom. All had lamps and vessels for oil. For a time there was seen no difference between them. So with the church that lives just before Christ’s second coming. All have a knowledge of the Scriptures. All have heard the message of Christ’s near approach, and confidently expect His appearing. But as in the parable, so it is now. A time of waiting intervenes, faith is tried; and when the cry is heard, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him,” many are unready. They have no oil in their vessels with their lamps. They are destitute of the Holy Spirit. – {COL 408.2} Without the Spirit of God a knowledge of His word is of no avail. The theory of truth, unaccompanied by the Holy Spirit, cannot quicken the soul or sanctify the heart. One may be familiar with the commands and promises of the Bible; but unless the Spirit of God sets the truth home, the character will not be transformed. Without the enlightenment of the Spirit, men will not be able to distinguish truth from error, and they will fall under the masterful temptations of Satan. – {COL 408.3} The class represented by the foolish virgins are not hypocrites. They have a regard for the truth, they have advocated the truth, they are attracted to those who believe the truth; but they have not yielded themselves to the Holy Spirit’s working. They have not fallen upon the Rock, Christ Jesus, and permitted their old nature to be broken up. This class are represented also by the stony-ground hearers. They receive the word with readiness, but they fail of assimilating its principles. Its influence is not abiding. The Spirit works upon man’s heart, according to his desire and consent implanting in him a new nature; but the class represented by the foolish virgins have been content with a superficial work. They do not know God. They have not studied His character; they have not held communion with Him; therefore they do not know how to trust, how to look and live. Their service to God degenerates into a form. “They come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as My people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.” Ezekiel 33:31. The apostle Paul points out that this will be the special characteristic of those who live just before Christ’s second coming. He says, “In the last days perilous times shall come: for men shall be lovers of their own selves; ... lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5. – {COL 411.1} This is the class that in time of peril are found crying, Peace and safety. They lull their hearts into security, and dream not of danger. When startled from their lethargy, they discern their destitution, and entreat others to supply their lack; but in spiritual things no man can make up another’s deficiency. The grace of God has been freely offered to every soul. The message of the gospel has been heralded, “Let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17. But character is not transferable. No man can believe for another. No man can receive the Spirit for another. No man can impart to another the character which is the fruit of the Spirit’s working. “Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it [the land], as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.” Ezekiel 14:20. – {COL 411.2} It is in a crisis that character is revealed. When the earnest voice proclaimed at midnight, “Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him,” and the sleeping virgins were roused from their slumbers, it was seen who had made preparation for the event. Both parties were taken unawares; but one was prepared for the emergency, and the other was found without preparation. So now, a sudden and unlooked-for calamity, something that brings the soul face to face with death, will show whether there is any real faith in the promises of God. It will show whether the soul is sustained by grace. The great final test comes at the close of human probation, when it will be too late for the soul’s need to be supplied. – {COL 412.1} The ten virgins are watching in the evening of this earth’s history. All claim to be Christians. All have a call, a name, a lamp, and all profess to be doing God’s service. All apparently wait for Christ’s appearing. But five are unready. Five will be found surprised, dismayed, outside the banquet hall. – {COL 412.2} At the final day, many will claim admission to Christ’s kingdom, saying, “We have eaten and drunk in Thy presence, and Thou hast taught in our streets.” “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?” But the answer is, “I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from Me.” Luke 13:26; Matthew7:22; Luke 13:27. In this life they have not entered into fellowship with Christ; therefore they know not the language of heaven, they are strangers to its joy. “What man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:11. – {COL 412.3} Saddest of all words that ever fell on mortal ear are those words of doom, “I know you not.”

The Work of Satan among Proffessed Believers

I have noticed that some ministers as well as some ordinary members look upon those seeking a higher and a holy walk as " More Holy than thou" .
This is the title given to those striving  to follow Christ in all particulars.

This is training ground for the coming struggle.
  • Foottmen = Persecution from our own people.
  • Horsemen= Persecution from Protestants.
  • Swelling of the Jordan= Catholic persecution by incarceration and death.

Ellen white says pointedly : "When we reach the standard that the Lord would have us reach, worldlings will regard Seventh-day Adventists as odd, singular, straight-laced extremists. "We are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men."  {RH, January 9, 1894 par. 10}

When did the people of God loath so much the peculiarity we were call to have.

Tit_2:14  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
1Pe_2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

What's the cause for such attack upon some one who has made it their duty to be obedient  to  counsel from  Biblical direction and Spirit of Prophecy

The Pen of Ellen White gives the vivid details

  "The word of the Lord came to Elijah; he did not seek to be the Lord's messenger, but the word came to him. God always has men to whom He entrusts His message. His Spirit moves upon their hearts and constrains them to speak. Stimulated by holy zeal, and with the divine impulse strong upon them, they enter upon the performance of their duty without coldly calculating the consequences of speaking to the people the word which the Lord has given them. But the servant of God is soon made aware that he has risked something. He finds himself and his message made the subject of criticism. His manners, his life, his property, are all inspected and commented upon. His message is picked to pieces and rejected in the most illiberal and unsanctified spirit, as men in their finite judgment see fit. Has that message done the work that God designed it should accomplish? No; it has signally failed because the hearts of the hearers were unsanctified. {5Testimony 299.2}

Good is called Evil and Evil called good even among professed believers.

The bible says about HOLINESS :
1Pet_1:15  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pet_1:16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
 2Pe_3:11  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

The Bible talks of PERFECTION:
1Ch_29:19  And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.
Job_1:8  And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Mat_5:48  Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Luk_6:40  The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Comparing one self with others

One of the reasons that those who strive to live the peculiar life are looked down upon is simply this.
Human beings like to compare themselves with others.
Our standard, our template is Christ alone, character is evident by fruits: Luk_6:43  For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
To compare oneself even in the heart with another is dangerous ; 2Co_10:12  For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise
Many of Gods people ridicule if not openly behind close doors the perceive radical reformed life that every Seventh Day Adventist should have to minimise the the hardness of their own hearts to follow Christ and not the world. It is a diversion tactic, It is the way to make little of your own disobedience by trying to magnify the following of God's principles, God's standards as extremes in other parties.

Prophecy in connection with Behold the Lamb makes the triumphant life the focal point.
The present truth message does make one stand up and take notice of his or her own life. Taking the beam out of the others eyes is not the priority of a converted soul. For a soul under the currents of conversion is very aware of his weakness and his state of being undone .
Knowing by hard biblical evidence that we are in the JUDGEMENT of the LIVING and the closing scenes of earth's history are unfolding surely is design to wake up a lukewarm Laodicean from carnal slumber.
Those who believe firmly the truth of  Daniel 11:40-45( The healing of the Papal deadly wound),The Gathering time message,the trumpets of Rev9 and 11(arrival of the sprinkling of the latter rain signal by islam ),The repeat of Millerite History in our time and much more are driven to seek a closer walk with Christ. Such an individual is ever aware that the understanding of the mystery of iniquity and the experience of the mystery of Godliness is to part and parcel of the daily living.
It is the message for the hour the 3rd angel that gives them the impetus to cooperate with the Holy Spirit fully ,putting away all filthiness of the flesh,perfect holiness in the fair of the lord a priority.

Gods professed people are in Danger of repeating the mistake of the Jews in Christ time.
Many of God's humble servants, those distrustful of self at this time are called many names.The hatred of those within or among us is kindle quietly in the heart of the rejecter /enemy of truth. A satanic marasma beclouds the mind,it replaces soberness; spiritual blindness advance from stage to stage. An increase in ceremony takes the place of settling into truth (sealing ) and a form of Godliness mix with a flavour of worldly pleasure and pursuit takes centre stage among the brethren. And the angel of the Lord says again to the faithful " Eze_8:6  Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations.

Christian Comedy Festival
The evidence is there to be seen in worldly activities labelled with the word Christian put before it.
There are many reason for this,the Bible makes it very clear .Those that come face to face with light upon rejecting it they sink into more and more darkness.Isaiah 66:1-4 shows that those who reject evidence pile upon evidence of  advancing light receive "strong delusions because when God called none did answer,When God spoke none did hear,but choose what He (God) delight not."

In the Famous 2Thess 2  the principle is repeated as Isa66:1-4 it says :

Christian fashion show
2Th 2:10  And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

And so in the life and light that messengers bring to the professed people of God,Those rejecters of such light and the reformed lifestyle protest by way of word and deed. This is done in the attempt to paint them as Puritans,Separatist,Overzealous,Extremist,Queer Straight-laced and much more derogatory colourful language.

Will it be too late for many ?
Many will soon understand the work needed to be done in the life to face a righteous God takes time and severe warfare. the flesh and the spirit wareth with each other ,Holy writ says : Rom_8:5  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit
Gal_5:17  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Jas_4:1  From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Paul exclaim again : Rom_7:24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Christ in you the Hope of Glory has a deadline
All the above scripture tells me that a fierce battle with self,Self exaltation,lust of the eyes ,lust of the flesh ,the pride of life is a never ceasing battle in the mind of every single believer.

When Would victory be gain ? Will it be gained in the times of trouble,will it be gain when intercession cease?
Will it be Gain when Michael stands up Dan 12:1. Am afraid that will be too late.

It is time that Gods people cease from watching others enter into the strait gate and they themselves enter there in.
If only We can understand the how the mind of Christ was lost at Eden and God seeks to give back those who so desire His Holy vision,His character. A partial gospel will not do this work, An "Evengelical "gospel will not do this work, a feel good gospel that make light of sin will not do this work.
When God's people see through the eyes of the prophets that this controversy is for real,that we are in the time of its closing,that Christ the Sun of Righteousness has done the work to give us the victory and the TITLE,now we must do the heart-work to have the FITNESS to enter therein.

The offer has been extended to Laodicean,many are aware of the offer has been extended,but do not understand the time and the details of the offer. Prophecy shows us the time and the season ,righteousness by faith is the experience.Gold ,White Raiment ,Eye-salve is offered in Rev3:18. Will you buy?

Going once ...1stAngel message,Going twice 2nd Angel message ,Going three times 3rdAngel message.
Gods people also must experience the Everlasting gospel of the 1st ,2nd,3rd angel's messages before they can preach it to the world.

The prophet of the Lord says :

"The Spirit of God is gradually but surely being withdrawn from the earth. Plagues and judgments are already falling upon the despisers of the grace of God. The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society, the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching events of the greatest magnitude. The agencies of evil are combining their forces, and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones.--Testimonies, vol. 9, p. 11.  {ChS 52.2}

"A new heart will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you." I believe with all my heart that the Spirit of God is being withdrawn from the world, and those who have had great light and opportunities and have not improved them, will be the first to be left. They have grieved away the Spirit of God.
